Day Forty-six
Begin by reciting the following blessing:
ברוך אתה יהוה אלוהינו , מלך העולם , אשר קדשנו במצותי
וציונו עלי לספירת העומר
Barukh ata Adonai Eloheinu Melekh ha'Olam asher kid'shanu b'mitzvotav
v'tizivanu al sefirat ha'omer.
v'tizivanu al sefirat ha'omer.
Blessed are you, Lord our God, King of the Universe, who has sanctified us with your commandments and commanded us to count the omer.
Recite the day of the count:
היום ששה וארבעים יום שהם ששה שבועות וארבעה ימים לעמר
Hayom shishah v'arba'im yom, sh'hem shishah shavuot v'arba'ah yamim la'omer.
Today is the forty-sixth day, making six weeks and four days of the Omer.
Psalm 67: 1-4a (NKJV 49 word Paraphrase)
God be merciful to us, Bless us and cause His face to shine upon us. That Your way may be known on earth, Your salvation among all the nations. Let the peoples praise You, O God; Let all people praise You. Let them be glad and sing for joy!
Psalm 128:
A Song of Ascents. Blessed is every one who fears the Lord, Who walks in His ways. When you eat the labor of your hands, You shall be happy, and it shall be well with you. Your wife shall be like a fruitful vine In the very heart of your house, Your children like olive plants All around your table. Behold, thus shall the man be blessed Who fears the Lord. The Lord bless you out of Zion, And may you see the good of Jerusalem All the days of your life. Yes, may you see your children's children. Peace be upon Israel!
Prayer for day 46:
Heavenly Father, we humbly ask that You preserve and protect Your people who are called by your holy Name. Forgive us, shine your face on us and heal our land that has been defiled by the shedding of innocent blood. Sovereign of the universe, You have commanded us through Moses Your servant to count the days of the omer, in order to purify and cleanse us. Therefore, may it be Your will, Lord our God and God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, that in the counting of the omer which I (we) have counted today, I (we) may be purified and sanctified. And through my (our) obedience to your commandments, may Your abundant bounty be granted all the world. May it rectify our soul and our spirit from every impurity and evil intent, and may it purify and sanctify us with all your holiness.
Abba, father, on this, the forty-sixth day of the counting of the omer, we remember your bountiful kindnesses to the Israelites, how when Moses went up to the mountain You had him tell the people if they obeyed You and kept Your covenant, then they would be Your special treasure above all people" and how all the people responded "All that the Lord has spoken we will do." We humbly ask that You in the same way, confirm your covenant promises to Your people who love you today and that we might be worthy to be Your special treasure. Amen.
After the reciting the prayer, continue to pray and meditate on how we are God's special treasure among all peoples for all the earth is His. And we are a "kingdom of priests and a holy nation."
The Sefirot for Day forty-six is: Netzach of Malchut: Endurance in Kingship (Nobility). Our character and fit for leadership is often tested by trials and setbacks. A leader without endurance will not remain in leadership for long and human dignity is almost always exemplified in a will to succeed or to survive in the face of great odds.
Suggested activity for today: Take initiative and act today on something that you have felt God leading you to do, but for whatever reason, you have not initiated or taken the leap of faith to accomplish it.
