Counting the Omer 2020 - Day Forty-five

Day Forty-five

7th of Sivan 5781 – from sundown on May 17th to sundown on May 18th, 2021

Begin by reciting the following blessing:

ברוך אתה יהוה אלוהינו , מלך העולם , אשר קדשנו במצותי
וציונו עלי לספירת העומר
Barukh ata Adonai Eloheinu Melekh ha'Olam asher kid'shanu b'mitzvotav
v'tizivanu al sefirat ha'omer.
Blessed are you, Lord our God, King of the Universe, who has sanctified us with your commandments and commanded us to count the omer.

Recite the day of the count:

היום חמשה וארבעים יום שהם ששה שבועות ושלשה ימים לעמר
Hayom chamishah v'arba'im yom, sh'hem shishah shavuot u-shloshah yamim la'omer.
Today is the forty-fifth day, making six weeks and three days of the Omer.

Psalm 67: (Jubilee Bible 2000)
God be merciful unto us and bless us and cause his face to shine upon us. Selah. That thy way may be known upon the earth, thy saving health among all the Gentiles. Let the peoples praise thee, O God; let all the peoples praise thee. O let the Gentiles be glad and sing for joy, for thou shalt judge the people righteously and shepherd the Gentiles upon the earth. Selah. Let the peoples praise thee, O God; let all the peoples praise thee. Then shall the earth bring forth her fruit, and God, even our own God, shall bless us. God shall bless us, and all the ends of the earth shall fear him.
Psalm 112: (NKJV)
Praise the Lord! Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, Who delights greatly in His commandments. His descendants will be mighty on earth; The generation of the upright will be blessed. Wealth and riches will be in his house, And his righteousness endures forever. Unto the upright there arises light in the darkness; He is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous. A good man deals graciously and lends; He will guide his affairs with discretion. Surely he will never be shaken; The righteous will be in everlasting remembrance. He will not be afraid of evil tidings; His heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord. His heart is established; He will not be afraid, Until he sees his desire upon his enemies. He has dispersed abroad, He has given to the poor; His righteousness endures forever; His horn will be exalted with honor. The wicked will see it and be grieved; He will gnash his teeth and melt away; The desire of the wicked shall perish.
Prayer for day 45:
Heavenly Father, we humbly ask that You preserve and protect Your people who are called by your holy Name. Forgive us, shine your face on us and heal our land that has been defiled by the shedding of innocent blood. Sovereign of the universe, You have commanded us through Moses Your servant to count the days of the omer, in order to purify and cleanse us. Therefore, may it be Your will, Lord our God and God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, that in the counting of the omer which I (we) have counted today, I (we) may be purified and sanctified. And through my (our) obedience to your commandments, may Your abundant bounty be granted all the world. May it rectify our soul and our spirit from every impurity and evil intent, and may it purify and sanctify us with all your holiness.
Abba, father, on this, the forty-fifth day of the counting of the omer, we remember your bountiful kindnesses to the Israelites, how when Jethro saw Moses  judging the problems of the people from sunrise to sunset you prompted Jethro to give advice of wisdom to Moses to help him rule the people more effectively. We humbly ask that You in the same way, uncover areas in our life where we have become ineffective because we are trying to do it all on our own and reveal to us solutions that allow us to harness the infinite resources you have placed at our disposal so that we may become supremely effective in all the tasks you have placed in our hands. Amen.
After the reciting the prayer, continue to pray and meditate on how Moses receives advice from his father-in-law, Jethro gives to help him lead the people more effectively and teach the people the statutes and laws by which they shall live and create a judicial system consisting of God-fearing, trustworthy and honest judges, a system of laws and courts that is the foundation of our system of jurisprudence today.

The Sefirot for Day forty-five is: Tiferet of Malchut: Beauty (harmony) in Kingship (Nobility). Effective leadership requires harmony and order.  If the organization is unruly, wasteful, or there is no clear order of command, leaders will be ineffective and blamed for negligence.

Suggested activity for today: Add harmony and order to an area where you have authority by eliminating waste or improving communication.
