Counting the Omer 2021 - Day Thirty-seven

Day Thirty-seven

Begin by reciting the blessing:

ברוך אתה יהוה אלוהינו , מלך העולם , אשר קדשנו במצותי
וציונו עלי לספירת העומר
Barukh ata Adonai Eloheinu Melekh ha'Olam asher kid'shanu b'mitzvotav
v'tizivanu al sefirat ha'omer.
Blessed are you, Lord our God, King of the Universe, who has sanctified us with your commandments and commanded us to count the omer.

Recite the day of the count:

היום שבעה ושלשים יום שהם חמשה שבועות ושני ימים לעמר
Hayom shivah u-shloshim yom, sh'hem chamishah shavuot u-shnei yamim la'omer.
Today is the thirty-seventh day, making five weeks and two days of the Omer.

Psalm 67: 4-7 (NKJV 49 word Paraphrase)
Let the peoples praise You, God; For You shall judge the people righteously, And govern all the nations on earth. Let everyone praise You, God; Let all people praise You.  Then the earth shall yield her increase; God, shall bless us, And all the earth shall fear Him.
Psalm 95:  (NKJV)
Oh come, let us sing to the Lord! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms. For the Lord is the great God, And the great King above all gods. In His hand are the deep places of the earth; The heights of the hills are His also. The sea is His, for He made it; And His hands formed the dry land. Oh come, let us worship and bow down; Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker. For He is our God, And we are the people of His pasture, And the sheep of His hand. Today, if you will hear His voice: "Do not harden your hearts, as in the rebellion, As in the day of trial in the wilderness, When your fathers tested Me; They tried Me, though they saw My work. For forty years I was grieved with that generation, And said, 'It is a people who go astray in their hearts, And they do not know My ways.' So I swore in My wrath, 'They shall not enter My rest.' "
Prayer for day 37:
Heavenly Father, we humbly ask that You preserve and protect Your people who are called by your holy Name. Forgive us, shine your face on us and heal our land that has been defiled by the shedding of innocent blood. Sovereign of the universe, You have commanded us through Moses Your servant to count the days of the omer, in order to purify and cleanse us. Therefore, may it be Your will, Lord our God and God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, that in the counting of the omer which I (we) have counted today, I (we) may be purified and sanctified. And through my (our) obedience to your commandments, may Your abundant bounty be granted all the world. May it rectify our soul and our spirit from every impurity and evil intent, and may it purify and sanctify us with all your holiness.
Abba, father, on this, the thirty-seventh day of the counting of the omer, we remember your bountiful kindnesses to the Israelites, how when they departed from Dophkah and camped at Alush near Horeb, you continued teaching and preparing them for the great events which were soon to come. And we remember how Yeshua directed His disciples to go to the Mount of Olives where He would give them His final instructions. We humbly ask that You in the same way, prepare us for the events soon to come and guide our steps to follow the plan You desire for our lives. Amen.
After the reciting the prayer, continue to pray and meditate on how events in our lives may serve to prepare us for momentous things to come.

The Sefirot for day thirty-seven is: Gevurah of Yesod: Strength (discipline) in Bonding. Though bonding with others is vital to our growth as God’s chosen people, we must also recognize that everyone is entitled to their own “personal space” and remember to observe appropriate boundaries in our relationships with others.

Suggested activity for today: Examine your closest relationships and see if there is any evidence that you may be violating the boundaries that should be maintained in healthy relationships.

Suggested reading from the weekly Torah portion: BaMidbar – 2nd reading: Numbers 1:20-54
Suggested reading from the Brit Hadashah: 1 Cor 12:12-31; Rev 7:4-8
