Counting the Omer 2021 - Day Nineteen

Day Nineteen

Begin by reciting the blessing:

ברוך אתה יהוה אלוהינו , מלך העולם , אשר קדשנו במצותי
וציונו עלי לספירת העומר
Barukh ata Adonai Eloheinu Melekh ha'Olam asher kid'shanu b'mitzvotav
v'tizivanu al sefirat ha'omer.
Blessed are you, Lord our God, King of the Universe, who has sanctified us with your commandments and commanded us to count the omer.
Recite the day of the count:
היום תשעה-עשר יום שהם שני שבועות וחמשה ימים לעמר
Hayom tishah-asar yom, sh'hem shnei shavuot v'chamishah yamim la'omer.
Today is the nineteenth day, making two weeks and five days of the Omer.
Psalm 67: (HCSB)
May God be gracious to us and bless us; look on us with favor              Selah
so that Your way may be known on earth, Your salvation among all nations.
Let the peoples praise You, God; let all the peoples praise You.
Let the nations rejoice and shout for joy, for You judge the peoples with fairness and lead the nations on earth.                 Selah
Let the peoples praise You, God, let all the peoples praise You.
The earth has produced its harvest; God, our God, blesses us.
God will bless us, and all the ends of the earth will fear Him.
Psalm 119:153-160: (NKJV)      ר           Resh
Consider my affliction and deliver me, For I do not forget Your law. Plead my cause and redeem me; Revive me according to Your word. Salvation is far from the wicked, For they do not seek Your statutes. Great are Your tender mercies, O Lord; Revive me according to Your judgments. Many are my persecutors and my enemies, Yet I do not turn from Your testimonies. I see the treacherous, and am disgusted, Because they do not keep Your word. Consider how I love Your precepts; Revive me, O Lord, according to Your loving-kindness. The entirety of Your word is truth, And every one of Your righteous judgments endures forever.
Prayer for Day 19:
Heavenly Father, we humbly ask that You preserve and protect Your people who are called by your holy Name. Forgive us, shine your face on us and heal our land that has been defiled by the shedding of innocent blood. Sovereign of the universe, You have commanded us through Moses Your servant to count the days of the omer, in order to purify and cleanse us. Therefore, may it be Your will, Lord our God and God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, that in the counting of the omer which I (we) have counted today, I (we) may be purified and sanctified. And through my (our) obedience to your commandments, may Your abundant bounty be granted all the world. May it rectify our soul and our spirit from every impurity and evil intent, and may it purify and sanctify us with all your holiness.
Abba, father, on this, the nineteenth day of the counting of the omer, we remember your bountiful kindnesses to the Israelites, how after you delivered them from slavery in Egypt, you brought them to a place of rest at Elim where they became complacent and self-satisfied. And we remember how Yeshua when He met with the apostles by the Sea of Tiberius, lovingly restored Peter after his repeated betrayal, so that he could resume his intended mission, to lead the formation of Yeshua’s community of believers and launch what was to become the Church, the “Body of Christ.” We humbly ask that You in the same way, refine us and in every way make us worthy to continue this great work today in our time. Amen.
After the reciting the prayer, continue to pray and meditate on the mysterious miracle of the catch of one hundred and fifty-three fish and on the restoration of Simon Peter. Pray that God will allow you to realize your full potential and His amazing plan for your life.

The Sefirot for Day nineteen is: Hod of Tiferet: Humility in Beauty (compassion). A prerequisite of any real and lasting spiritual growth is humility. A humble spirit is beautiful whereas pride is always repugnant. Be mindful of what Solomon wrote, “By humility and the fear of the Lord Are riches and honor and life.” [Proverbs 22:4]

Suggested activity for today: Perform an act of compassion in an anonymous fashion, not taking any personal credit.

Suggested reading from the weekly Torah portion: Acharei Mot/Kedoshim – 5th reading:
Leviticus 19:15-32; Suggested reading from the Brit HadashahMat 5:43-48; 7:12; 18:15-18; 25:31-46; Mark 12:28-34; Gal 5:13-26; Jam 2:1-9; 1Cor 6:15-20
